TheraLight PEMF FAQ
From treatment times to wavelengths and certification, we’re here to help you understand everything about using and offering TheraLight full-body therapy.
What does PEMF do?
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy delivers time-varying magnetic flux that couples into tissue. The TheraLight PEMF module generates controlled low-frequency pulses designed to support circulation, neuromuscular relaxation, and recovery-oriented applications.
What frequencies are available?
Factory presets include 10 Hz, 20 Hz, 30 Hz, and 60 Hz. The standard programmable range is 1–100 Hz. Custom frequency profiles can be configured upon request.
What waveforms are supported?
The module supports sine, square, and burst waveforms. Advanced users can also upload custom sample-based waveforms via the integrated 256-sample engine.
Can two applicators be used simultaneously?
Yes. With the optional dual-channel driver, two applicators can operate in parallel. The standard package includes a single-channel configuration.
What is the recommended session length?
Sessions are typically set at 10 or 20 minutes. The hardware timer enforces maximum session length for safety and protocol consistency.
How does PEMF integrate with photobiomodulation (PBM)?
The TheraLight PEMF module includes trigger I/O for synchronized or independent operation with the LED PBM system. Cross-therapy interlocks prevent conflicting states and ensure safe, coordinated operation.
What are typical environmental requirements?
Use in indoor, controlled environments. Coil ratings are specified at 25 °C in free air. For enclosed systems such as the TheraLight bed, maintain adequate airflow or derate current according to manufacturer guidance.
What power is required?
• Controller: 5 V DC, <2 W.
• Coil driver supply: depends on desired current output. Size the amplifier for up to 5 A RMS continuous or 15 A pulsed (≤10% duty) within coil thermal limits.
What safety features are built in?
• Watchdog supervision
• Emergency stop (<100 ms)
• Debounced inputs
• Current and thermal protection bounds
• Hardware session timer
Who should avoid PEMF?
Contraindications include individuals with implanted active medical devices (e.g., pacemakers, ICDs), pregnant individuals, and those with active hemorrhage. Use should be avoided unless explicitly cleared by a qualified clinician. Always follow local regulatory requirements and professional clinical guidance.
Is this a medical device?
The TL-PEMF-2025 is a component module intended for integration into the TheraLight full-body PBM bed. Regulatory status depends on the host system. No stand-alone medical claims are made by the PEMF module.
What does PEMF therapy do?
PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. It uses gentle, low-frequency magnetic pulses that pass through the body to support healthy circulation, relaxation, and recovery.
How long is a typical PEMF session?
Sessions usually last 10 to 20 minutes. The system automatically times and ends the session for your safety.
What does it feel like?
Most people feel little or nothing directly. Some report a gentle warming, pulsing, or relaxation response in the body. Many describe feeling calmer and refreshed afterward.
How does PEMF work with red light therapy?
The TheraLight bed combines PEMF with red and near-infrared light therapy (PBM). Both therapies work together—light supports cellular energy and circulation, while PEMF adds a magnetic energy field to help the body relax and recover. Together, they provide a whole-body wellness experience.
Is PEMF safe?
Yes. The system includes multiple built-in safety features and automatically limits session time. PEMF has been widely studied and used for decades in wellness and medical environments.
Who should not use PEMF?
PEMF should not be used by people with pacemakers or other implanted medical devices, those who are pregnant, or people with uncontrolled bleeding. Always consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new therapy.
Is this treatment considered medical?
The PEMF system inside the TheraLight bed is designed for wellness use. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. Its purpose is to support relaxation, circulation, and recovery.
